General Meetings

General meetings are held every other week. SWE invites faculty members, other clubs, and company representatives to speak on a variety of topics. This exposes members to various companies in different industries and new technologies. General meetings also offer the opportunity to meet other engineers at Cal Poly who support the growing number or women in the field.

General Meeting with Florence Hudson from Internet2

November 30, 2016. 6:10pm to 7:00pm. ATL.

Hosted by both SWE and WISH (Women in Software and Hardware), Florence Hudson from Internet2 will be talking about Diversity and Inclusion in the work place. 

Florence Hudson is Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer at Internet2, a not for profit consortium of 300+ academic institutions and 150+ research organizations developing innovations around the Internet. Prior to Internet2, Ms. Hudson was with IBM for 33 years in many leadership roles including Director of Business Development for the Internet of Things, Vice President and Director of Corporate Strategy, and Vice President of Strategy & Marketing in Systems & Technology Group. Ms. Hudson has lectured widely on many topics, including a TEDx talk regarding energy and the environment in 2012, as well as at Advanced Energy Conferences, Princeton, Columbia and Harvard Universities, and in many countries including China, South Korea, Vietnam, Spain, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Trinidad.

Chipotle will be catered for this event.

Every Thursday Robotics Mentoring

Seeking volunteers to be mentors for the Santa Maria High School Robotics club! Past robotics experience is recommended, but not required. Meetings are held every Thursday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Santa Maria High School. The club is looking to engage with aspiring engineers for help with their projects and competitions.  11/10  Fall SWE Welcome Did you host a conditionally admitted student at SWE Welcome last spring and have a SWE-et time? You're in luck because SWE Welcome is back this fall! 10/22 - 12/2 T Shirt Design Contest!

SWE is looking for talented students to design our club T-shirts for this year! Designs are needed for both the front and the back of the shirt and can include quotes or puns about engineers or SWE, drawings, and anything featuring the SWE logo. If your submission is chosen, it will be featured on the club shirts for this year, and you will receive a free T-shirt! Interested? Study Sessions with SWE

Need a quiet place to study and get work down? SWE has you covered!

Each Tuesday from 11am-1pm, SWE will have a designated fishbowl in the Kennedy Library for members and officers to utilize. This week's fishbowl is 216K*. 


*Fishbowl location may be subject to change each week, but the weekly time and date will remain the same. Please check the reservation roster outside of each fishbowl before entering.


Info Sessions 

Company info sessions are held throughout the year. SWE invites company representatives to speak to members about various aspects of the company as well as internship or full-time job opportunities. Info sessions provide Cal Poly engineers a chance to ask insightful questions about the company and get a glimpse into the industry.

In previous years, industry representatives from Deloitte, Amazon, Apple, Mazzetti, Boeing, Dreyer's, Lockheed Martin, and many more companies have come to Cal Poly for an info session.

1/26/17 Evening With Industry

Evening With Industry (EWI) is an opportunity for students to network with companies in their respective field of study and to recognize deserving Cal Poly students and faculty. The first hour of EWI consists of a networking session in which all attendees can interact, ask questions, and learn about various company opportunities. The evening continues with dinner, during which attendees sit at a company table of their choosing, a keynote speaker gives a few words, and scholarships and awards are presented.
