4th Grade Days

Cal Poly SWE Fourth Grade Days is an annual event where Cal Poly engineering students visit local fourth grade classes to do a fun hands on engineering lab! Although the visit last year was for only an hour, the students were able to learn what is engineering and compete with one another in a paper structure activity. The task was to create the strongest paper structure that can carry the most textbooks. Last year, we reached to over 630 elementary school students and worked with the SWE Central Coast Professional section on making this event a success. This year we are hoping to get as many students involved as possible to make this an event not to miss!

February 21st - February 24th between 9am-3pm

Celebrate National Engineering Week, February 21st through 24th, by going to local fourth grade classrooms to teach the students about engineering and conduct a fun, engaging, hand-on engineering activity.Visits will last around an hour excluding travel time. This is a fun way to reach out to our community and inspire kids to explore engineering! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact Claudia Mendez at cpsweelementary@gmail.com.
